crisis the homeless charity

Crisis the homeless charity needed a design for the online community part of the site to be done on a very small budget, so I worked with them to produce a simple design that would be very quick and easy to implement in Blackbaud NetCommunity. The design is a little simple but they expected that, given that I didn't have much time to work on it.

I wanted to play with the idea of layers, so the black wedge is a page background, and the content area is transparent to show the wedge greyed out. The alternative design below was my first idea - to use images of the street to highlight life on the street (with photos that I took around Waterloo station), the idea being that the background image could be changed periodically and thereby change the whole look of the site.

Crisis is currently using variations of this design in their live site, adapting it to suit the fundraising campaigns that they run.
